Our CEO Chih-Han Yu, CTO Chia-Yung Su and founding team member Ying-Jui Chen spent an amazing past weekend in Bangalore, India as part of Sequoia::Hack in September 2014. We felt honored to serve as mentors and judges at this event. More importantly, we were really excited to walk away with so much learning and insights from all the hackathon participants and fellow CTOs.
We were extremely impressed with the level of talents participating in the hackathon. What incredible energy! While Appier sponsored the Machine Learning track, focusing on deriving key insights through A.I. and Big Data, we were amazed by participants across all tracks. The participants were not only impressive in their coding ability, but also their ability to pitch new ideas and leverage technology to address daily problems. The overall winner Night Owls and their product “roadBump” is an example of such innovation.
In addition to spending time with Sequoia::Hack participants, we also attended the CTO summit, where we were thrilled to meet tech leaders from many successful companies in the region. It was a wonderful forum for us to exchange ideas, and it was also quite comforting to learn that many of us have faced similar challenges.
Overall, it was a very inspirational weekend for us. We loved the kind of startup passion and world changing energy at Sequoia::Hack, and we can’t wait to be back next year!
